Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Financial Crime Manager & Deputy MLRO to take a senior, hands-on role in leading and strengthening JQB’s financial crime framework.

Reporting to the MLRO, you will act as their deputy and play a key role in overseeing AML, fraud prevention, investigations, and regulatory engagement. You will have line management responsibility, influence across the business, and real ownership of financial crime risk management in a high-trust environment.

This is a permanent role with visibility, autonomy, and genuine impact. Ideal for someone ready to operate at senior-manager level and step into MLRO cover where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Deputy MLRO, supporting the MLRO and providing cover as required
  • Lead financial crime risk management across AML, fraud, sanctions, and suspicious activity
  • Monitor suspicious activity, oversee escalations, and ensure high-quality SAR submissions
  • Conduct and oversee customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, and PEP/sanctions screening
  • Own and maintain AML and financial crime policies, procedures, and controls
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial crime risks across the business
  • Collaborate with Customer Services, Operations, Marketing, Tech, and Finance to strengthen fraud prevention and controls
  • Lead internal investigations and support responses to law enforcement and regulatory requests
  • Manage, coach, and develop team members within the financial crime/compliance function
  • Support audits, internal reviews, and enterprise-wide risk assessments
  • Deliver and support AML and financial crime training across the business
  • Contribute to JQB’s wider Annex I Financial Institution obligations and regulatory strategy

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in senior financial crime, AML, compliance, or fraud roles
  • Strong working knowledge of UK AML regulations, SAR reporting, and risk frameworks
  • Experience acting as a senior escalation point for financial crime issues
  • Proven ability to draft, implement, and maintain policies and internal controls
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing operational teams
  • Line management experience
  • Strong investigative mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, ecommerce, payments, or similar
  • Comfortable using financial crime systems, screening tools, and reporting platforms
  • ICA, ACAMS, or similar qualification (desirable but not essential)

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • A senior role with ownership and accountability
  • Opportunity to operate as Deputy MLRO in a high-growth business
  • Work closely with experienced leaders in compliance and risk
  • Influence and improve controls across the entire organisation
  • A culture rooted in Integrity, Agility, Ambition, Clarity, and Efficiency
  • Real autonomy to shape and strengthen a core business function

About You
