Management Accountant

Job Introduction

As a result of our ongoing international expansion, we are looking to recruit an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team. As a Management Accountant, you will be be a key player in our Finance team and a trusted finance business partner across the group. 

Role Responsibility

  • Reporting: Preparation of monthly management accounts and quarterly, and annual financial reports, presenting detailed analysis and explanations of all variances. Ensure financial processes are in line with all statutory legislation and regulations. Proactively identify and implement enhancements in financial reporting to elevate the quality and impact of financial data presented to stakeholders.  
  • Cost Control & Analysis: Prepare monthly cost centre reports and collaborate with departments across the business to analyse and identify opportunities to enhance profitability. Establish yourself as a trusted finance business partner for stakeholders and offer financial guidance to help drive business success.  
  • Sales and margin analysis to provide insight for senior stakeholders and to help monitor and drive profitability.  
  • Internal Controls: Maintain and enforce strong internal controls, ensuring the integrity of financial data.  
  • Liaise with Auditors: Support financial accountant with external audit processes, ensuring all requested documentation and information is provided promptly.  
  • Complete monthly control reconciliations in line with the month end timetable. 
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.  
  • Risk Management: Evaluate potential financial risks and provide recommendations on risk mitigation strategies.  
  • Project Evaluations: Analyse and assess the financial feasibility of proposed projects or investments, providing insights into their potential profitability or cost implications.  

The Ideal Candidate

Required Experience:

  • Proven experience in management accounting with a solid grasp of financial legislation and standards. 
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of distilling complex data into actionable insights. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on team development and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • A proactive and innovative approach to financial management and process optimisation. 
  • Intermediate excel skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail 

Desirable Experience 

  • Working towards CIMA/ACCA or equivalent qualification 
  • Power Query & Power BI experience 
  • Previous experience in retail banking, financial services or the precious metals industry 
  • Experience using Xero or Sage 50 

Package Description

  • Basic salary up to £35,000 - £40,000 dependent on experience

Please note this is an office-based role from our Head Office in Birmingham City Centre, with an option to work from home one day a week after training.​ This role does not qualify for visa sponsorship, all applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
